This patient is an older male in his seventies who presented with hand numbness, and after we determined that it was non-carpal tunnel syndrome and MRI of the neck was done, we found areas of severe stenosis. Because he had good cervical alignment with no significant neck pain, he was a candidate for laminoplasty, which preserves motion and is a minimally invasive procedure. Laminoplasty was done with mini-plates and was able to decompress the spinal cord and maintain his level of mobility and function without any significant issues.

A Severe Stenosis Case
Emergency Cord Decompression
This is a young woman who was in a car accident and developed a bruise on her spinal cord. We brought her into the operating room emergently and decompressed the cord at two levels where the cord was severely stenotic, placing two small pieces of bone graft in a titanium plate, spanning these levels. She will go on to have a normal life after this once she recovers from her spinal cord injury. A cervical fusion was done here and patients can have a good quality of life after a cervical fusion.
We are always excited to work alongside skilled neurosurgeons like Dr. Shelby Burks, in Miami Florida, who utilize advanced technologies to help better treat their patients.
